Nancy Golden, host of DIY's Decorating and Design, demonstrates some novel ways to add new hardware to drawers and doors: Old flatware: Bend old eating utensils and attach them as door handles (figure A). Jewels: Hot-glue glass "jewels" to a painted flat-topped wooden knob to dress up a little girl's room. Novelty items: Attach novelty items such as miniature birdhouses, toy cars, puzzle pieces, buttons, etc., by means of a brass lamp spacer and a long screw.
