Host Samantha Gleisten designs and creates a one-of-a-kind duvet cover using mixed-matched clothing.
Materials: thrift store clothing store bought duvet cover colored thread sewing machine fabric scissors sewing needles pins
1. Cut the fabric into various shapes and sizes. Note: Straight lines will make the pieces easier to sew together.Tip: Only use fabric scissors for cutting the fabric.
2. Run two pieces together under the sewing machine (figure A). Make sure the good sides of the fabric face each other so that the seams will be on the back.3. Continue sewing new pieces into the design. When the pieces become large and cumbersome, hold them in place with pins. 4. Sew enough pieces together to create a rectangle big enough to cover the pre-made duvet cover. Once you are finished, cut the piece to the measurements of the duvet. 5. Put the rectangle piece directly over the top of the duvet, and then sew in place--making sure not to close up the opening for the comforter. Project Cost: Thrift store clothing: $60 Duvet cover: $28 Thread: $9 Total: $97
