    Materials:

    paint
    primer
    wood putty
    electrical sander
    screwdrivers
    angled tip brush
    paint roller and tray
    particle mask

    1. Sand away any water damage (figure A) using a palm sander.

    Tip: Find out what the dresser is made of by locating an unpainted surface on the back (figure B).

    2. Smooth out the area using wood putty, and then allow it to dry for four to six hours.

    3. Dismantle the console by removing the glass doors, shelves, hinges, and the pull out drawer.

    Tip: Use an empty egg container to hold different hardware during the painting process. Label each section according to its location.

    4. Sand the entire surface including dried wood putty in preparation for priming and painting.

    Tip: Latex will not adhere to an oil based surface. If this applies to your particular project, use oil based paint.

    5. Use an angle-tipped brush to prime all of the corners. Once dry, use a roller to prime the larger surface areas.

    6. Paint all of the primed surfaces with black paint.

    7. Reassemble the doors and hinges--previously removed--and then put the sliding drawer back in place.

    8. Put the shelves in to complete the project.
