Parquet floors provide subtle pattern as well as a durable surface.

    Materials:

    parquet flooring
    tape measure
    pencil
    chalk line
    flooring adhesive
    V-notched trowel
    rubber gloves
    rubber mallet

    Steps:

    1. Measure the room in both directions and mark center.

    2. To check for square, mark 3 feet out in one direction and 4 feet out on the perpendicular line. From point to point, it should measure 5 feet.

    3. Spread premium floor adhesive on the floor with a V-notched trowel. You only have about 20 minutes of working time, so spread out about 25 square feet at a time.

    4. Place first floor tile in the center of the room. Press firmly and then follow up with a rubber mallet to ensure it is secured to the floor. Continue to lay the flooring working out from the center.
