With the ceiling and furniture taken care of, host Karl Champley and the crew get to work on installing tongue and groove flooring.

Here are Karl's instructions for tackling your own flooring project:

    1. Make sure that all nail heads are hammered down and replace any boards that are rotten.

    2. Cover the floor with 30-pound felt paper and staple it down. This creates a stable base for the flooring, gives it a bit of cushion, and helps prevent squeaks.

    3. From the wall, measure one board-width and snap a chalk-line.

    4. Lock the boards into place, then face-nail the first row of boards, then use a pneumatic flooring nailer to nail each nail into the tongue of the board.
    5. Space nails evenly.

    6. Use a circular saw to rip the last board to fit snugly.

    7. Use a rubber mallet and a chisel to pry the tongue and groove tightly together.

    8. Face-nail last board.

    9. The trim is installed as it was on the ceiling. Set it in place and nail it in at an angle.

    10. Cut boards to fit door openings, then cover any remaining boards with trim.
