    Restoration Realities in the town of Statesville, North Carolina about 45 miles outside of Charlotte. The owners of this 1907 Colonial Revival started their restoration over a year ago. They cleared away overgrown brush, painted the exterior, repaired plaster walls and returned the home's magnificent stairway to its 1907 glory. But they aren't done just yet. We're gonna help them check a few projects off their list. At the top of their list: repairs and restorations on three of the house's eight (yes, eight!) fireplaces.

    Project Background: A Tale of Three Fireplaces

    When you buy a historic home with eight fireplaces, chances are good that a some of them are going to need a little work. That's what happened to Brian and Jane Severson when they purchased a 1907 Colonial Revival home in Statesville, North Carolina. Fortunately, only three needed repair and Restoration Realities was there to help replace a missing hearth to one, strip and repaint the second, and add a long overdue coat of stain to a third.

    Restoration Realities is all about helping people bring back historical features of their homes, and Brian and Jane Severson were the perfect couple to work with. Brian specializes in quality assurance for a chain of home improvement stores, so knowing how to approach home restoration projects came naturally when the couple decided to save the old house. Jane say's she's the one with "the eye" when it comes to restoration, and her vision of what this house could be helped achieve the success the couple have had thus far.
