- Continue installing the fence sections across the front wall, attaching sections end-to-end. The final fence section should be installed between the gate and the post on the porch of the house (in this example).
- Measure and check to make sure entire fence is sitting evenly on the wall; adjust as necessary. After that, use a masonry bit to drill holes in the cap blocks (figure A) where mounting tabs are located at the base of each post. Nail anchors are use to secure the sections.
- Anchor first fence section to the house using an "L" bracket (figure B). Attach last section to the post on the porch as well.
- Choose stones to use atop the cap blocks. Chip away edges of stone using a masonry hammer as needed.
- Apply mortar to top of cap block, then set stone into place (figure C). Work around the fence posts, getting as close as possible, then fill in around post with mortar.
- Fill joints between stones, and trowel mortar directly into corners before setting stones into place. Press each stone to better spread mortar.
- Finally, add stone between gate posts to fill space.
