    1. Create circles using plastic tubing to the circumference of the top of a martini glass.

    2. Create a circle using plastic tubing the circumference of the bottom of a shade (figure E).

    3. Drill holes in the plastic tubing, and then insert dowels to create a skeleton of a lampshade.

    4. Glue dowels into plastic tubing to create permanence.

    5. Spray paint a skeletal structure.

    6. Create a cone shape out of plastic sheets by following the frame of the shade skeleton.

    7. Cut small half circles out of each sheet.

    8. Wrap the circle around the lampshade (figure F).

    9. Using glue used for plastic, attach all but one of the plastic sheet joints together.

    10. Shape the plastic pieces around the skeletal structure, and then mark and cut the excess.

    11. Glue the plastic together to shape. Let the glue dry overnight.

    12. Paint the small glass ball cover green and red (figure G).

    13. Paint the lamp base.

    14. Glue a conventional lampshade base to the small plastic tubing piece. This will serve to join the lamp base with the shade.

    15. Trim the edges with silver foil tape to make it look like a fancy gilded martini glass.

    16. Once everything is dry, put the lamp together (figure H). Put the shade into place, add the lamp electrics, and then add the bulb and olive cover.

    Project Cost:

    Lamp, plastic tubing: Free
    Plastic light covers: $8
    Glass bulb cover: $2
    Paint and materials: $8

    Total: $18
