    Entertainment Cart

    For the television, an entertainment center is built using wooden barrels and crates.

    Materials:

    wood pallets
    wood barrels
    railroad crate
    hammer
    pry bar
    soap
    sponges
    polyurethane
    brushes
    wire
    pliers
    circular saw
    jigsaw
    drill and bits
    3/4" plywood
    router
    chop saw

    Railroad Cart

    1. Fully clean the railroad cart with soap and water.

    2. Apply two coats of polyurethane to seal the wood and add shine.

    Small Barrel

    1. Clean with soap and water.

    2. Repair the barrel as needed..

    3. Apply two coats of polyurethane.

    Large Barrel

    1. Clean with soap and water.

    2. Screw the wooden slats to the metal strapping to keep the barrel from falling apart when cut.

    3. Cut out sections of one side of the barrel to create openings for the entertainment center components.

    4. Use the metal strapping as a straight edge guide (figure G).

    5. Drill holes large enough for a jigsaw to fit through.

    6. Use a jigsaw to cut out the opening.

    7. Measure the diameter of the inside of the barrel (figure H).

    8. Cut out circles to fit the inside of the barrel out of 3/4 inch plywood. Use a router and a straight cutting bit with a circle jig.

    9. Screw the plywood into place with screws through the metal strapping.

    10. Stain the plywood shelves to match the color of the barrel.

    11. Apply two to three coats of polyurethane.

    Television Crate

    1. Disassemble the wood pallets, being careful to preserve as much lumber as possible.

    2. Construct a simple box with an open face and open back that fits the dimensions of your television.

    3. Use a hammer and nails to preserve the aesthetic of the crates and pallets.

    4. Apply two to three coats of polyurethane.
