    Turntable Tower

    An entertainment center is constructed out of MDF and half of an old dining table.

    table saw

    power drill with countersink bit

    1. Cut two piece of 3/4 inch MDF to match the shape of the found table top. Cut the pieces wide of your lines. Use a flush trim router bit to size by using the table top as the template.

    2. Cut backer for the base section out of 1/2 inch MDF.

    3. Attach the base and backer to the table.

    4. Custom cut and fit two pieces of 1/2 inch MDF to fit behind the legs of the table (figure G).

    Note: These pieces serve as vertical dividers to create three storage sections in the base unit.

    5. Attach uprights using glue and screws by pre-drilling and countersinking all of the holes so screws can be covered with wood filler.

    6. Make two shelves for the base unit.

    7. Make the cardboard cutouts before cutting into the lumber. Use the edge of the table to copy a round shape for the front edge of the shelf. Cut and fit into place around the legs and any other obstructions.

    8. Once the cardboard template fits, transfer the lines to 1/2 inch MDF.

    9. Cut the MDF.

    10. Attach shelves using screws and glue.
