    Adding Steel Poles:

    Steel poles are added to the bed for visual appeal and structure.

    Metal poles were added to the top of this wood framed bed to create a retro-styled 4-post bed.
    Materials:

    2 86" steel poles
    1 36" steel pole
    6 3/4" flanges
    screws
    electric drill or screwdriver
    pencil

    Note: You'll need to have the steel poles cut at your local home improvement store.

    1. Measure down from the top of the posts three inches, and then mark pilot holes with a pencil—using the holes in the 3/4 inch galvanized flanges. Pilot holes will be marked on the interior sides of the bedposts.

    2. Add flanges to each end of the threaded 3/4 inch galvanized steel poles.

    3. Attach galvanized poles to the sides and the foot of the bed at the pre-drilled marks (figure H).
