    Materials:

    small foam paint roller
    brush
    small paint tray
    ready made pine boxes
    scrapbook supplies
    paints or paint pens
    spray adhesive

    1. Lightly sand the boxes and prime with a base coat of paint (figure A). An easy way to quickly paint the boxes is to use a small foam paint roller. If you like the finish that a paint brush makes, you can apply the paint with the roller, and then immediately go over it with a paint brush. After the base coat is thoroughly dry, repeat with a second coat. Let the boxes dry completely.

    2. Decorate the box front with scrapbook supplies such as stickers or cut outs. To adhere paper and other lightweight embellishments, place the paper face down inside a cardboard box, and then spray with adhesive (figure B). Be sure to spray in a well ventilated area. You can add more dimensional items such as permanent flowers, buttons and wooden cut outs by attaching with a hot glue gun.
