  • Vintage Bath, Pt. 4: Value Boosts and Final Tally
  • A couple works to turn their plain vanilla bathroom into a vintage spa retreat. Check out more value-enhancing home projects from Sweat Equity.

    episode DSEQ-209

The remodeled bathroom features French doors and a towel rack fashioned from salvaged antique tools.
The finishing touches to the bathroom, like the jetted tub and glass shower surround really put the Thomases over their $5,000 budget. But making $19,000 in equity on the project made it worth the price.

Now Kristen has a private bath retreat in her personal style, with repurposed furniture she finished herself and an antique chandelier.

By doing much of the work — like tiling, antique restoration and installing the wainscoting — she saved thousands in labor costs.
