Matt and Michelle's massive new bathroom suite includes a new faucets and fixtures throughout. Host Amy Matthews shows them how to install those new faucets in their elegant marble countertops.
Materials:faucet adjustable wrench screwdriver
Faucet Installation- Remove the doors from the under-sink cabinet. This will keep them out of the way and out of harm's way during the installation.
- Set the faucet in the correct countertop hole. Matt and Michelle had the professionals who installed their marble countertops also drill the correct holes for the fixtures. The marble is expensive and delicate enough that this is a job for the pros.
- Attach the rubber washer to the faucet underneath the countertop, leaving the gap toward the back to accommodate a pop-up drain control (figure A). Secure the washer with a lock nut.
- Attach the handles according to the manufacturer's instructions (figure B). No matter how many faucets Amy installs, she always reads and follows the instructions that come with the faucet. Even for a pro, it's the only way to be sure of a leak-proof installation.
- Amy decided to wait until the sink and drain were in place before installing the water supply lines.
