    Install Wall-Mounted Faucet

    • A professional plumber roughed in the connections for the wall-mounted faucets. This is especially important if replacing a traditional, sink-mounted faucet with a wall model, since the supply lines must be relocated.

    • Attach the spout to the wall plate (figure A). Make sure to position any washers and other hardware according to the manufacturer’s instructions, then tighten the bolts down with an Allen wrench. (Different faucets may require different tools to tighten.)

    • Position the plate and spout on the wall and tighten the bolt to secure it (figure B).

    • Add the handles and any necessary hardware. Andy and JP’s new faucet handles included decorative plates labeling the hot and cold taps. Finger-tighten the handles.

    Install Electronic Toilet

    • Homeowners Andy and JP chose a "throne" fit for a king, including a heated seat, bidet and even a remote control to raise and lower the lid and seat. These controls require an electric connection; if installing a similar model, make sure the correct power supply is available.

    • If the drain was covered or blocked to keep sewer gases from entering the home, make sure to remove the obstruction before installing the toilet.

    • If the toilet flange isn't already installed, install it. Insert closet bolts in the flange so that they stick up from the floor.

    • Unwrap the wax ring and position it over the open drain (figure C). This ring creates a water-tight seal around the toilet drain. If water seeps out from underneath a toilet, chances are it needs a new wax ring.

    • Position the outlet connector so that it fits over the bolts in the toilet flange. Slide a washer over each bolt, followed by a nut. Tighten down with a crescent wrench (figure D).

Note: More traditional toilets simply fit over the wax seal without an outlet connector in between.

    • Fit the main body of the toilet over the outlet connector and tighten down the bolts to attach. Be careful not to over-tighten the bolts and crack the toilet.

Safety Alert: The toilet used in this project weighed about 120 pounds. If installing a heavy toilet – or other hefty item – make sure to have enough help on hand to move, lift and position it safely.

    • Install the toilet seat and other hardware according to the manufacturer’s instructions.

    • Wrap the threaded connectors with Teflon tape and connect the water supply to the toilet according to the manufacturer's instructions. Turn on the water at the supply shut-off and allow the tank to fill.
