How to Tile a Bathroom (by John Palanca)- Measure area you intend to tile.
- Split that number in half to determine the center point.
Note: It's important to make sure that your horizontal and vertical lines are level (figure A). These lines will be your guides for laying the tiles. - Mark the center point of one of your tiles.
There are two ways to go about this step - Start on the center point of tile (figure B).
- Mark the actual positions of the tile on the wall to get the size of the tile you need to cut at the edge of the wall.
- Start on the center point of the line.
- Mark the actual positions of the tile on the wall to get the size of the tile you need to cut at the edge of the wall (figure C).
- Based on the two different sets of marks on the walls, decide which method offers a more attractive finish.
- Place a nailer at the bottom of the area you wish to tile for a level straight line to hold up the tiles temporarily (figure D).
- Apply tile adhesive to the wall with a notched trowel.
- Lay your tile in out from the center point you have chosen (figure E).
- Allow to dry for 24 to 48 hours.
