Pedestal Sink and Toilet Installation From "Bathroom Renovations" episode DBTR-405

Host Amy Matthews assembles the new pedestal sink and installs a new toilet. Stain is applied to the radiator to match the rest of the molding in the house.

Assembling and Installing Sink

1. The faucet is tightened from below and the diverter is tightened. (figure A).

2. Add the valve stems for the handles (figure B), and then the water supply lines (figure C).

3. For this project, Teflon tape was not needed. The connections come with a rubber gasket inside creating the watertight seal (figure D).

4. Then they tighten on with a wrench.

5. Next, roll out plumber’s putty for around the drain plate (figure E), and thread the drain stem on from below the sink (figure F).

6. Set the sink in the right spot (figure G), use a level to get the exact placement and mark the location of the bolt holes in the back of the sink.

7. To drill into the tile, use a tile bit on the drill starting out slow and pushing through until it goes through.

8. With a smaller drill bit, finish the hole (figure H).

9. Run silicone all the way around the back of the sink as an extra adhesive to back up the bolts.

10. The bolts drop through the holes. Tighten them down with a tiny wrench (figure I).

Toilet Installation

1. Set the rubber ring to create a watertight seal and to protect the porcelain on both the tank and the bowl (figure J).

2. Drop the bolts into the tank...mounting holes, and tightening the nuts from below (figure K).

3. Tighten down the mounting screws from above while holding the nuts underneath (figure L).

4. With the closet bolts in place, set in a new wax ring (figure M).

5. Bring in the toilet, setting over the bolts, pushing it down over the ring.

6. Over the bolts drop a plastic ring then a washer, and a nut to tighten down to the floor (figure N).

7. Hook up the water line (figure O).
