Materials: pipe wrench pipe cutter safety glasses blowtorch solder flux screwdriver shop vacuum plumbers putty level reciprocating saw drill with a 1-1/2" spade bit utility knife tile bit Showerhead Installation 1. After finding an area to install the showerhead (figure A), score along the grout line with a utility knife to get as clean a cut as possible (figure B). 2. Cut excess around the access panel to install the diverter for the showerhead. 3. With a rotary tool and abrasive blade attachment, create a hole for the diverter (figure C) and loosen the plaster so the tiles will drop out easily (figure D). 4. Unscrew the handles and twist off the finish plates from the tub area (figure E).
5. Use a plumber's wrench to twist off the tub spout (figure F). With the stems exposed, the plumbing should pull through the other side (figure G).
6. Cut the 2x4 cross brace to make room for the new plumbing system (figure H). 7. The new plumbing, or plumbing tree, for this project is 76 inches off the tub floor (figure I), a standard height for the showerhead. Use the tree to mark the exact location.
8. Using a drill with an inch and half space bit, drill through the wall to open to the closet on the other side (figure J). 9. Install the new plumbing tree, and cut down the water supply lines to match up with the new copper pipes (figure K).
