Shower Bench and Sink Installation From "Bathroom Renovations" episode DBTR-313

A bench top, which matches the countertop, completes the steam shower. Then, to the countertop, side and back splashes are added as well as a pair of faucets and undermount sinks.

Shower Bench Installation

1. Use a square-notched trowel to spread a layer of mortar across the bench area (figure A). Make the mortar 1/2" higher in the back so the water will drain forward instead of pooling in the back.

2. Seal the edges with silicone (figure B).

Faucet and Sink Installation

1. Drop in spout and faucets and secure each one with a metal washer and nut. Tighten them with an adjustable wrench (figure C).

2. Set a bucket under the copper supply lines and cut them off with a close-quarter pipe cutter (figure D). Add shut-off valves and supply lines (figure E).

3. If there is hardware going on the false panels, you'll want to install it before the sink bowls.

4. Apply a bead of silicone to the top of the undermount sink. Center it in the opening and secure it to the countertop with the provided hardware (figure F).
