Countertop and Cabinet Installation, Grouting and Staining From "Bathroom Renovations" episode DBTR-313

A slate countertop is added to the vanity and then a tall cabinet is placed between the two sink cutouts. Nate grouts the toilet area floor tile while Amy and Carolyn figure out the best way to apply stain to the wainscoting and window trim.

Countertop and Cabinet Installation

1. Add a bead of silicone on the cabinet top (figure A), then set countertop in place (figure B).

2. Center cabinet on vanity between sink cutouts (figure C) and screw it into the wall.

3. The back and side splashes get adhered with silicone as well.

Grouting

Spread grout with a grout float (figure D), let it sit for a few minutes then wipe off the excess with a wet sponge (figure E). Be careful not to wipe the grout back out of the lines.

Staining

1. Test stain on scrap wood to figure out how much to apply and how long to let it sit (figure F).

2. Apply stain with brush and wipe it off with a rag (figure G).
