    Wainscoting Installation

    1. Apply construction adhesive to back of plywood panels (figure A) and press panel to wall. Secure the panels with a finish nailer (figure B).

    2. Use 1x6 for the baseboard, 1x2 for the top rail and cap rail and again, secure them with the finish nailer (figure C).

    3. Finally, nail the stiles in place. Check for plumb as you set them (figure D).

    Trimming Windows

    1. Trim back the drywall with a utility knife and fit the fir strips in place. Tack them up with a finish nailer (figure E).

    2. Mark top of casing leaving a 1/8" reveal, then measure the height of the side trim pieces (figure F). Cut boards to length on a compound miter saw and nail them in place (figure G).

    3. To find the angle to cut the corner of the top board, find the angle using a bevel. Set the bevel on the board to be cut and line it up on the miter saw (figure H). Double the angle and that is the proper measurement to miter the corner at.

    4. Once all the casing is attached, nail on the pieces of backbanding (figure I).
