    Tiling Steam Shower

    1. Measure and mark for height of chair rail so that it falls between the niches (figure A). Transfer that measurement to the other walls.

    2. Place a few tiles against the wall and check for level (figure B). If the floor is not level, you can shim the tiles and build up the grout line.

    3. For a standard brick pattern, use a level to make two vertical reference lines.

    4. Set spacers on the floor for a grout line.

    5. Back butter the tile with thinset using a square-notched trowel (figure C) and set tiles working your way up to the chair rail (figure D).

    6. Back butter chair rail corner pieces and set in place (figure E). Find center point between the two pieces, then center first chair rail piece on that mark (figure F). Set chair rail working out toward the corners (figure G). Any pieces that need to be cut will then be the same size on both sides.

    7. To set the accent tile, lay out the field tiles and set the accent tile on top. Trace around the accent tile (figure H), then cut the field tiles on a wet saw (figure I). Start setting the field tile.(figure J).
