    Tiling Floor Surrounding Toilet

    1. Dryfit tiles with spacers to determine layout (figure A).

    2. Spread thinset with a 1/4" x 1/4" square-notch trowel. Work in small areas so the thinset doesn't dry before you can set the tiles.

    3. Use spacers to ensure tiles are evenly spaced (figure B).

    Pouring Shower Pan

    1. Cut off drain pipe with a reciprocating saw (figure C).

    2. Mark needed opening, drill a pilot hole with a spade bit (figure D) and cut the opening with a jigsaw (figure E).

    3. Connect drain flange to drain pipe with ABS cement (figure F).

    4. Lay out shower pan liner. Center it in the base leaving about six inches up the sides of the shower and pulling the corners tight (figure G).

    5. Tack liner to the studs with roofing nails.

    6. Cut opening for drain with a utility knife. Screw on the drain flange and drain cover (figure H).

    7. Mark the pan liner at about two inches. This will be the height of the shower base.

    8. Mix up tilecrete and pour buckets in the pan. Spread it with a trowel and pound the top with a flat finish trowel (figure I). This brings the moisture to the top and creates a smooth finish.
