    Laundry Chute Construction

    1. Construct box out of 2x4s (figure A) and secure it in chute location with a framing nailer. Be sure to check your local building codes before undertaking a project like this.

    2. Pry up floorboards (figure B) and cut out opening with a reciprocating saw (figure C).

    3. Remove any ductwork that is in the way (figure D).

    4. Work your way down by framing in chute on first floor, then in the basement .

    5. Cut drywall to size and secure it with drywall screws. In tight places, use a wood tapping block to work pieces into place (figure E).

    6. In basement, determine location of opening and mark the four corners. Drill holes as reference points on the other side (figure F).

    7. Draw lines from hole to hole, then cut an opening with a reciprocating saw (figure G).
