tape measure
3/16" square-notch trowel
thinset
bucket

wet saw

Tiling Wall With Pattern

1. Cut hole in the drywall with a drywall saw (figure A).

2. Check both sides for plumb with a six-foot level (figure B).

3. Measure in two feet on both sides and use the level to mark the wall.

4. Begin with the straight tiles on both sides, then the accent profiles, then the diagonal tiles with the waterfall in the center.

5. Set tiles from the tub deck up using a 3/16" square-notch trowel to back butter them (figure C).

6. Set all the outside tiles, then back butter the accent profile tiles and run them up both sides.

7. Find the center point between the accent profiles, cut a tile in half diaganolly and line up the tip of the tile with the center point. Continue to set tiles on a diagonal up from this tile (figure D).
