    The old vanity and countertop are disassembled to make way for the stylish replacement vanity. A soap dish and toothbrush holder are right in the way of the new vanity so they are removed by Amy and Amanda and replaced with matching tiles.

    Tile Replacement

    Vanity Removal

    1. Turn off the water supply at the shut offs (figure A).

    2. Disconnect the supply lines (figure B).

    3. Disconnect the trap from the sink (figure C).

    4. Release the countertop by breaking the silicone seal on the edges.

    5. Pry up and pull away the top (figure D).

    6. A hole may need to be cut in the back of the vanity to make for easier removal.

    Tile Replacement

    1. To remove old soap dishes/toothbrush holders, first cut away the silicone around the edges (figure E).

    2. Use a hammer and a cold chisel to break out the pieces (figure F).

    3. Rub off the butt joints on the replacement tiles with a tile stone until they fit into the spaces (figure G).

    4. Back butter the tiles with a thick layer of mastic to match the depth of the old tile and press them firmly into place (figure H).
