    Quarter-inch square notch trowel
    1/8 in. spacers
    Wet saw
    Tile breaker
    Rubber gloves

    Firring Out Wall

    Rock saw
    Wire saw
    Reciprocating saw
    Hammer
    ABS pipe cleaner and solvent
    Safety gloves and glasses

    Prepping Sub-floor

    T-square circular saw
    Pencil
    Chalk line
    Drill
    Deck screws

    Laying Floor Tile

    Measuring tape and ruler
    Pencil
    Quarter-inch square notch trowel

    1. Use a T-square to mark your cut lines on the plywood (figure A).

    2. Cut the plywood to size, running the circular saw across the width of the board (figure B).

    3. Using the original sub-floor nails as a guide, mark the floor joist locations on the wall to know where you can insert the screws (figure C).

    4. Lay the plywood in place on the floor (figure D).

    5. Run a chalk line off the floor joist to mark the wall. Then, drive deck screws every eight inches along the line (figure E).

    6. Bring in the cement board and lay it down on the plywood (figure F).

    7. Screw the cement board into the plywood about every six inches (figure G).
