    Materials:

    Tiling Shower

    Drill
    Self-adhesive mesh tape
    Quarter-inch square notch trowel
    1/8 in. spacers
    Wet saw
    Tile breaker
    Rubber gloves

    Firring Out Wall

    Rock saw
    Wire saw
    Reciprocating saw
    Hammer
    ABS pipe cleaner and solvent
    Safety gloves and glasses

    Prepping Sub-floor

    T-square circular saw
    Pencil
    Chalk line
    Drill
    Deck screws

    Laying Floor Tile

    Measuring tape and ruler
    Pencil
    Quarter-inch square notch trowel

    Firring Wall

    1. Cut through the drywall with a rock saw to expose the drainpipe (figure A).

    2. Cut the old drainpipe with a wire saw and remove (figure B).

    3. With a reciprocating saw, cut notches out at the adjacent stud where the new drainpipe will run. Knock out the old stud.

    4. Wipe the new pipe with a cleaner.

    5. Apply solvent to the inside and outside of the new pipefittings (figure C).

    6. Put the elbow fitting on and give a 1/4-turn twist to make sure all the air bubbles are out (figure D). Hold the fitting in place for one minute. Follow the same process for the rest of the fittings.

    7. Put the insulation back in and cover up with drywall.

    8. Find the studs in the wall. Place the new studs flush with the wall and drill them into the existing studs (figure E).

    9. Notch out the area where the water lines will run (figure F). Run the pipes (figure G).
