Framing Window

1. Cut new support studs with a miter saw (figure A).

2. To connect the new stud to the old one, use a right-angle driver with 2-1/2 screws (figure B).

3. Determine height of window (figure C).

4. Then run a laser line 1-1/2 inches lower (figure D), to account for the width of the framing board and mark.

5. Cut through the existing studs at the mark with a reciprocating saw and pull them out (figure E).

6. Drop framing board into place and make sure it’s level and square (figure F).

7. Drill the frame into place (figure G).
