    1. The walls were painted, and the next step in this project is to clean the tile floor.

    2. You can purchase a tile and grout cleaner (figure A) at a local tile center or home center. It is very important to follow the instructions and procedures.

    3. The cleaner usually comes as a concentrate and you dilute it with water as directed. The cleaner is slightly acidic, so before you apply it to the floor saturate the grout with water. This will prevent the cleaner from soaking into the porous dry grout, which can damage the grout over time.

    4. Once the floor is wet, apply the diluted tile and grout cleaner with a soft brush (figure B). Give the floor a pretty good scrubbing to loosen the dirt. After letting the cleaner sit for ten minutes, rinse the floor with water, using a rag or sponge.

    5. Once the cleaner has dried, use the grout sealer (make sure it is compatible). It will take three to four hours before you can walk on it.

    6. The homeowners chose a crescent rod for their shower because it gives you a little more space in the shower. To install the rod, measure up 79" off the floor, which is the standard height for a 72" shower curtain. Use a laser to make sure the relative position of the end brackets are the same on both sides.

    7. To mount the brackets, you can use easy anchors that you tap in and then screw into the drywall (figure C). These anchors tend to strip easily, so be careful not to over tighten the screws.

    8. Slide the rod end into the wall bracket and snug up the top and bottom screws. Insert the other end on the shower bar and tighten the bracket (figure D).

    9. You can update the plumbing with new faucets and shower head. In addition, the cabinets were painted and new hardware applied to them.
