Add a nice finishing touch to your bar by attaching a brass foot rail.
Materials:
Hacksaw Large tube cutter Brass foot-rail kit Drill
- Use a hacksaw to cut the brass foot-rail tubing to the proper length. You may want to use a miter box or a large tube cutter for the best cut (figure A). File off any burrs after you finish cutting the tube. Many brass tubes are shipped with a protective plastic coating. Leave this coating in place until you finish installing the foot rail.
- Thread the mounting brackets onto the brass tube. Position the brackets on the floor and the bar, and mark and drill pilot holes (figure B). The brackets should be placed no more than 4' apart.
- Screw the mounting brackets in place (figure C). If one end of the tube will be close to a wall, you'll probably need to attach the decorative finial before attaching the brackets to the floor and wall.
- Apply liquid metal adhesive to the decorative finial (figure D), and insert the finial into the end of the tube (figure E). Twist the finial for better adhesion.
