Actor David Selby shares tips with host Michael Kennedy and pal on how to tell scary stories for your Halloween party.
|
Scary Storytelling Tips: - Keep the lighting dim; have candles flickering.
- Use sound effects when you tell the story.
- Take advantage of recorded sound effects or scary music.
- Accentuate special adjectives, and use descriptive verbs.
- Take your time; pause for effect.
- Speak softly and quietly so listeners have to pay attention.
- Maintain eye contact with the audience, especially with the children.
- Use gestures.
- "Personalize" the story -- pretend it happened to you, or someone you know.
