Cricket (foreground) and Plexi (background) are just two of engineer Henry Arnold's futuristic creations.

Engineer Henry Arnold says robotics combines his love of electronics, mechanics and computer programming. A robot, Arnold says, can be anything that can determine a course of action based upon a program, and doesn't have to look or move a certain way. Arnold's robots, Cricket and Plexi, were created from materials that Arnold purchased at his local home center. Cricket, a remote-control robot, can also do things on his own without being controlled, while Plexi has sensors that allow him to "sense " how close objects are and turn away from them. Arnold uses his robotic creations to help excite kits and tune them in to the possibilities of engineering.
