Chan has amassed an impressive collection of eggs after five-plus years of beading.
|
Terrie Chan spent years knitting, crocheting, quilting, sewing, tiling and painting. Exhausted, she finally "invented" a hobby that gives her greater pleasure than all the others: beading eggs. Using chicken, quail and ostrich eggs as a "canvas", Chan creates her art by applying beads with tweezers. First she empties an eggshell by cutting a small hole in each end and blowing the contents out. After the shell has dried, she lightly sketches her pattern directly onto the surface. Next, she moistens each bead with a small drop of glue before affixing it to the egg. (It takes Chan one month to apply 10,000 to 20,000 beads to an ostrich egg!)
