After seeing an expensive beaded necklace while shopping, Gina Covello let her creative talents lead her to create beautiful pieces at a fraction of the cost.

Gina Covello's handmade jewelry creations rival those found in expensive boutiques. Although she is self-taught, she suggests that beginners take a class. One of the best ways to find inspiration, she says, is simply to walk through bead stores to see what materials are available. Covello, who prefers to use high-quality materials in her pieces, often uses different gauges of sterling-silver wire to string the beads. Her clippers and pliers are specially made for jewelry-making and can be found at better hardware and bead stores.
