    Figure B

When you just plant a few bulbs, you may have trouble finding them to dig up again among your many other garden plants. To solve that problem, plant a handful of bulbs inside a plastic tray (figure A). Put a little soil in the bottom of a shallow tray with holes in the side, such as a plastic "organizer" basket. Set the bulbs in the tray, on the soil. Then plant the whole tray.

After the bulbs are done blooming, break off the blooms and keep the plants watered and fertilized while the leaves are still green. Once the green part of the plant dies down and will pull away easily in your hand, dig up the whole tray (figure B). Store bulbs, dirt and all, in the tray in a cool dry area until it's time to replant.
