lumber or composite wood product for compost bin
    ornamental fencing
    gated arbor

    1. The garden space is 25'x25', a good-sized kitchen garden for first-timers. Kitchen gardens require care and attention throughout the entire growing season, so it's best to be careful the space isn't too big and too hard to keep up (figure C).

    2. The vines in the garden are inferior seedling vines, which Maureen removes. Berry vines left to spread unchecked can become unruly. Newer varieties of boysenberry, gooseberry, raspberry, blackberry and blueberry are available; blueberries have now been bred to thrive all across America.

    3. After removing the vines, Maureen removes the fence is removed and tills the soil (figure D).
