The first was built almost entirely from recycled materials; the owner describes how she used old doors, windows, cinderblocks and even a garage-sale sink in the construction. She shows Joe her thriving vegetables and herbs and highlights a pair of lemon trees and an avocado tree; she also shares her methods of pest control.

    Greenhouse gardening is a great way to extend the growing season by allowing you to get a head start on some plants while keeping others growing over the cold winter months. A greenhouse also provides the perfect place to practice your gardening skills in any type of weather.

    Recycled-Materials Greenhouse

    Greenhouses come in all shapes and sizes. Laura Johnson built hers almost entirely out of recycled building materials:
