Like the idea of a lawn but don't feel quite up to mowing it? How about a miniature putting green instead? (figure A) Well, no, you can't exactly walk on it, but it is low-maintenance! Simply place a piece of zoysia sod in a 14-inch dish garden full of potting soil. Carve away a wedge or two and pour in sand for your sand traps. Then add a flag in the center (in this case, a straw from a spray can with a triangle of plastic glued to the top), golf clubs and a little ball glued to the top of a nail. The props for your miniature garden can come from toy, hobby or craft stores, or they can be objects you find around the house. And keep in mind, the theme for your miniature garden can be anything you want -- just make it fun!
