  • Foreground and Container Plants
  • From "Weekend Gardening"
    episode WKG-209

Now that the background plants are in place, it's time to add plantings to the foreground. Foreground plants include the following:

    • Coleus (Solenostemon Scutellarioides 'Stoplight') (figure A). The magenta color will lighten or darken based on sun exposure. Coleus are not cold hardy, but make excellent houseplants during the winter.

    • Coleus (Solenostemon Scutellarioides 'Sherbet' ) (figure B). As the bright green/yellow leaves mature they form a cup shape, exposing the interesting vein patterns on the leaf back.

    • Coleus (Solenostemon Scutellarioides 'Red Velvet') (figure C). Unusual blend of gold, red, yellow and rust.
