    Purple Emperor Sedum

    • This plant has dark purple foliage with pinkish-purple flowers.
    • It's a fast grower.
    • It grows to about 15 inches tall with a 12 to 15 inch spread.
    • It tolerates heat, drought and poor soil.
    • Zones 3-9
    • Cost: $30 for 2.


    Little Henry Itea

    • It's small and grows to only 2-3 feet high and won't hide the porch.
    • Doesn't require pruning.
    • White flowers in early summer, kind of like fat pipe cleaners.
    • Blood red foliage in fall.
    • Discovered at a nursery not too far from Louise's house (Burlington, KY) so it will thrive in this climate.
    • Likes full sun, but will grow in partial shade.
