    This evergreen will be a year-round focal point. It grows in a pyramidal shape and features golden yellow berries in the fall. It can grow 6-8 feet tall and wide. It prefers full to part sun and does well in zones 4-8.

    Limelight Hydrangea
    Hydrangea paniculata 'Limelight'
    This is an easy-to-grow hydrangea. It has up ten 12-inch cone-shaped lime green flowers that turn pink in the fall. It can grow up to 8 feet tall. It prefers full to light shade and thrives in zones 3-8.
    Cost: $25 each

    Maintenance Tips: The hydrangea blooms on new wood, so be sure to prune in late fall or early spring before new growth. Cutting it back 1/3 to 1/2 results in larger flowers.

    Moonbeam Coreopsis

    This award winning perennial has tiny, lemon-colored, daisy-like flowers on fern-like foliage. It blooms from June through October. It has white flowers in early summer that look a little like fat pipe cleaners. It grows 12 to 24 inches high and spreads up to 18 inches. It prefers full sun to partial shade. Moonbeam Coreopsis is drought resistant, but it prefers well-draining soil. It does well in zones 4-8,

    Irises are considered one of the easiest perennials to grow. They're a fast grower, growing typically to about 15 inches tall with a 12 to 15 inch spread. Irises prefer not be mulched, and they prefer full sun.

    Maintenance Tip: Divide Iris in early spring or early fall when they become overly crowded.

    The Coppertina Ninebark has orange/copper colored foliage which turns red as the summer heats up. It also has pinkish-white button-like flowers in the summer followed by red fruit. In the fall, look for peeling bark. Coppertina can grow up to 10 feet tall and 6 feet wide, but it can be pruned to size. It prefers full sun and does best in zones 3-8.

    Cleome is also known as Spider flower and Grandfather's Whiskers. It has spider-like flowers. Cleome blooms from summer until frost and can grow up to 6 feet tall and 12 inches wide. It prefers full sun.

    Note: Cleome has a musky scent that some may consider unpleasant.

    Maintenance Tip: Water regularly during dry spells.

    This plant is considered low maintenance and can grow 3-5 feet high and spread 1-2 feet. It blooms from June until frost, and is fragrant at night. It prefers full sun to part shade. It does well in zones 10-11. (Everywhere else it's treated as an annual.)
