    Below are six plant varieties and the planting information for each zone.

    Croton
    Codiaeum variegatum var. pictum — Croton

    • Shrub with foliage in green, yellow pink and red and racemes of yellow flowers in summer.
    • Plant in bright to partial shade.
    • Plant in moist, but well-drained soil; do not allow soil to dry completely.
    • Prefers warm temperatures from 60-85 degrees and high humidity.
    • Fertilize monthly during growing season.
    • Height: 8-12 feet
    • Width: 4-8 feet

    Patio or Houseplant in zones 2-9
    Hardy in USDA zones 10-11:

    • Zones 2-9: Container grow plant and keep indoors or in heated greenhouse; move outside when temperatures remain above 60 degrees; place by bright window with high humidity or mist daily during cold weather.
    • Zone 10: Plant in spring in partial shade protected from hot sun; mulch to conserve moisture; do not allow soil to dry completely; water moderately during winter months; prune in early spring, if needed.
    • Zone 11: Plant in spring in partial shade protected from hot sun; mulch to conserve moisture; do not allow soil to dry completely; water moderately during winter months; prune in early spring, if needed.

    Conocarpus erectus var. sericeus — Silver Buttonwood

    • Large evergreen tropical shrub or tree known for its silver foliage and button-like seed pods.
    • Plant in average, well-drained soil; drought and salt tolerant.
    • Plant in full sun.
    • Height: 20-50 feet
    • Width: to 20 feet

    Hardy in USDA zones 10-11:

    • Zones 2-9: Container grow; plant in spring; place container in full sun to light shade; bring indoors when temperatures drop below 55 degrees; water when dry; fertilize in spring.
    • Zone 10: Plant in spring or fall in full sun; water when dry; fertilize in spring.
    • Zone 11: Plant in spring or fall in full sun; water when dry; fertilize in spring.

    Crinum asiaticum — Crinum Lily

    • Large tropical lily grown for its sword-like dark green foliage and fragrant white flowers.
    • Plant in moist, but well-drained soil; do not allow soil to dry completely.
    • Fertilize monthly during growing season.
    • Plant in sun to partial shade.
    • Height: 5 feet
    • Width: 5-7 feet

    In zones 2-7, dig bulbs and bring indoors for the winter
    Hardy in USDA zones (8) 9-11:

    • Zone 8: Plant in spring in full sun to partial shade; mulch to conserve moisture; do not allow soil to dry completely; may die back to the ground in cold weather.
    • Zone 9: Plant in spring in full sun to partial shade; mulch to conserve moisture; do not allow soil to dry completely; water moderately during winter months; prune in early spring, if needed.
    • Zone 10: Plant in spring in full sun to partial shade; mulch to conserve moisture; do not allow soil to dry completely; water moderately during winter months; prune in early spring, if needed.
    • Zone 11: Plant in spring in full sun to partial shade; mulch to conserve moisture; do not allow soil to dry completely; water moderately during winter months; prune in early spring, if needed.
