After 12 hours, the entryway to the property is looking very different: plants with a variety of textures and colors dot the landscape (figure A) and a drip irrigation system is in place to keep them thriving (figure B).
Time spent so far: 12 hours.- Mulch is a crucial factor in keeping the new bed growing. Mulch doesn't just make a garden look good; it also blocks weeds, shades the plants and prevents soil moisture evaporation.
- Maureen applies 2" to 3" of a good organic mulch that won't decay quickly (figure C).
- A tall metal giraffe stands watch over the new landscape. He adds fun and whimsy to the environment, and because he's metal, he'll be happy in any weather (figure D).
Time spent: 2 hours.Total time: 14 hours.
