They want to add fall color to their landscape. Their backyard gets lots of sun and has a slope in it. Their front yard gets partial sun. Their front yard is really beautiful, but they feel it needs some color and seasonal interest.

Our challenge is to make it more interesting and determine what colors will look good for fall. We also want to use containers to achieve our goal and need to determine how to best use them.

    Gardening Challenge

    Required Project Time
The Fall Color project took less than eight hours to complete.

    Project Details

    • We removed some shrubs and freshened up the garden giving it a facelift after 15 years.
    • We expanded the bed in one area.
    • We moved a barberry to provide it with more light, which will result in a more colorful shrub.
    • We added fall color including pansies, asters and ornamental chard, kale and cabbage. The areas can be changed out during each season.
    • We also replanted the containers with fall plants.
