    Not so Sensible Selections

    • Plants to avoid in a landscape where you want year round privacy
    • Avoid using a Dwarf Alberta Spruce for privacy. It is not quite big enough. Plus in zone 6, it is hard to keep alive due to problems with heat, disease and insects. Instead, we chose a Leland Cypress. It gets tall and wide and is evergreen.
    • When choosing a magnolia for year round privacy, avoid deciduous magnolias that lose their leaves in the winter. We chose Bracken's Brown Beauty Southern Magnolia, which is an evergreen.
