Most of the work has been completed; now a few final amenities are added to make this a family-friendly gathering place that will make just about any day feel like a vacation!
No campsite would be complete without a barbecue, in this case a large gas grill. A dozen pavers set on a graded area next to the trailer provide a simple but sturdy platform for the grill (figure A). (For added convenience, many homeowners install a permanent gas line directly to their barbecues.) Finally, a picnic table and padded benches find pride of place on the deck (figure B), all ready for the next family picnic.
Expert tip: (Jamie McMurray, garden designer) I really love this idea. I mean, what do you do with your RV? Where do you put it? Why not set it off in a really attractive place in your yard? That's what's been done here. And not only that: it's been surrounded by really beautiful plants like roses and hydrangeas and rhododendron. And the grill is nearby; they'll get great use out of that. It's just a wonderful setting -- and the license plates are just really clever and whimsical! It's a terrific landscaping project!
