The Sexton playhouse is nearing completion, but a few details remain to be finished. After the holes have been predrilled (figure A), shutters are attached with 3" exterior screws.
Next, landscaping fabric is placed in the bottom of the sandbox, and the sand is poured.The door and shelves are installed, and an old clay flowerpot becomes a new home for a bird family (figure B) (figure C).
The area is landscaped with shrubs and colorful perennials.This once unsafe, ramshackle structure has now been transformed into a secure area for the children to play and let their imagination bloom (figure D) (figure E) (figure F). By doing the work themselves, with help from family and friends, the Sextons' project costs were approximately $750, a savings of more than $1,280.
And, as with most prime real estate, it didn't take long for the new tenants to settle in and make this house a home (figure G).
