    Chemical Weed Killers

Phillip Jennings, a.k.a. "The Sodfather," owns a three thousand acre sod farm in Georgia. He scouts the farm weekly for weeds. He recommends preventing weeds before they start spreading by using pre-emergence herbicide. Pre-emergence is a chemical that prevents weeds from popping up.

Sports turf mangers have the following advice:

    • If your neighbors have weeds, they will likely spread to your yard.

    • Don’t over irrigate...it promotes weeds.

    • In a new lawn, a year or two with weeds is OK. Then, kill the grass with the chemicals; or kill off with pre-emergence to kill specific weeds and grasses
