    He remembers their gardens and crops that included some tobacco, corn and sugar cane. His grandmother had a half acre kitchen garden and Roy remembers picking beans for dinner, and shelling peas on the front porch. Roy and Sybil both love to garden, camp and participate in other outdoor activities. They have lived in the home they built for the last eight years.
    Project Overview

    Here is the challenge our Garden Sense expert Walter Reeves faced with this project:

    • Choosing plants that adapt to wetter conditions
    • Selecting different ferns that besides adding interesting foliage and texture, will tolerate sun and hotter weather
    • Including plants that are natives of the area
    • Adding plants that attract birds, butterflies, hummingbirds

    Required Project Time
    The Creekside project took us about 7 hours because the area was cleared before we arrived.
